Why are there so many different types of Nursing Scrubs? http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/09/22/why-are-there-so-many-different-types-of-nursing-scrubs/ http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/09/22/why-are-there-so-many-different-types-of-nursing-scrubs/#comments Wed, 22 Sep 2010 16:13:35 +0000 Administrator http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/?p=47 Depending on where you work or what your profession is, the type of scrub that you wear can tell alot about you. Take for instance a young lady that works in a pedatric setting. What type of scrub would you think she would wear? Probably something that has some sort of cartoon design or colorful and playful design. This is because it takes the fear and pain away from the patient (usually a child or baby). Not only does it allow the patient to look at something while the doctor or nurses perform their duties, it also helps them realize that the Dr’s office or Dentist office really isn’t that bad of a place.

Now, lets shoot forward a few years and think about a dentist office. Usually when you walk into a dentist office, you will see a staff that is color coordinated, has an embroidered name on the top, and looks extrememly professional. Why you ask? This is due to the type of professionalism that dentist office’s like to display. Rather than dealing with children all day, they handle mostly adults who like to see a level of professionalism and dedication to the job. Next time you go into your dentist office, take a look.

Hospitals is where you will probably find the most stringent dress code for nursing scrubs. Here the hospital, depending on what floor you work on and what type of hospital is it, will only allow certain colors to be worn or certain designs to be displayed. Sometimes this is so the staff at the hospital can tell who is who when it comes to specialist, nurses and doctors. Or, sometimes its to display their professionalism as well. Hospitals are an excellent place to look for new designs and ideas for nursing scrubs. I’m sure when Cherokee Scrubs or Dickies Scrubs are coming out with new ideas or designs for their scrubs, they look to hospitals and doctors offices to get a feeling on how they will work out.

There are so many different types of nursing scrubs out there because there are so many people who wear them. One does not fit all in this scenario. Nursing scrubs have come a long way since they first started (when they were simple and green and called surgical greens). Check out our different designed scrubs that we carry such as cartoon scrubs, Cherokee Scrubs, Studio scrubs and more.

The Top 5 Reason Why to Wear Medical Scrubs http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/09/08/the-top-5-reason-why-to-wear-medical-scrubs/ http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/09/08/the-top-5-reason-why-to-wear-medical-scrubs/#comments Wed, 08 Sep 2010 17:02:31 +0000 Administrator http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/?p=48   If you could remember the first time you tried on medical scrubs, I bet you said “Wow, these feel great!” That’s because almost every person falls in love with them on the first try. Since this is the case, we’ve decided to write an article on “The Top 5 Reason Why to Wear Medical Scrubs”.

Because Your a Doctor
Obviously when they are in their office seeing patients, the normal attire for a doctor would be a nice collared shirt and tie. This is not always the case… Most of the time they are at the hospital performing surgery or other acts of life saving duties that they must attend to. Like most doctors though, they tend to stick with a more generic, green/blue colored scrub. We believe thats because they still must maintain the professional look rather than the fun look.

Because Your a Nurse
This would probably go for most of our viewers/customers. Nurses are the main reason on why scrubs are what they are today. Some nursing scrubs allow a patient to feel more comfortable when in the doctors office while others make children laugh. Each scrub that a nurse wears can become a conversation starter so make sure you choose wisely. Wear a V-neck scrub top from time to time then mix it up with a cartoon scrub top as well. Not only are scrubs comfortable to wear, they can also help take your mind off of where you really are at times.

You Work in a Doctors/Dentist Office
Here you really have no choice on what you can wear, but you do have a choice on what design to wear. If you are the lucky person that works in a Pediatric office, you would maybe wear a more colorful, cartoon scrub top rather than the conventional blue/green doctor type scrub. Either way you look at it, you are luckier than most. Just like nurses, the admin staff and all other employees must wear scrubs as well so sometimes you may see a certain pattern throughout the office. Maybe even sometimes, they all may have matching scrubs.

You Love Being Comfortable
Besides always looking comfortable, you actually are comfortable. Nursing scrubs are probably one of the most widely worn uniforms by people who are not even required to wear them. People who like those comfy lounge clothes love medical scrubs because of the roominess they provide. Go ahead and try a pair of cargo medical pants, we bet they will be some of the most comfortable pants you have ever tried. Join that up with a great looking scrub top and you might have just started a wardrobe with medical scrubs.

You Love a Bargain
Everyone loves a bargain right? Not only have we already mentioned how comfortable medical scrubs are, but how affordable they are makes them even more comfortable. You can always find a great price or sale on nursing scrubs, and just because they are cheaper than another, does not mean that they are less comfortable or uglier by any means. Medical scrubs, like clothes, have seasons. Based on these seasons is when new designs are released and old designs are stopped. When an old design is stopped, the manufacture tries to sell all of them off by discounting the price. Then, the re-sellers discount the prices as well to try and un-load them. So, just because you see a cheap scrub, don’t always think that you are getting a sub-par product.

Why are Cherokee Scrubs so Popular? http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/09/01/why-are-cherokee-scrubs-so-popular/ http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/09/01/why-are-cherokee-scrubs-so-popular/#comments Wed, 01 Sep 2010 16:37:03 +0000 Administrator http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/?p=43 Why are Cherokee scrubs so popular? Cherokee scrubs are the number one nursing scrubs worn and hospitals, doctor’s offices and medical facilities. So you might ask yourself, why are they so popular. There are several factors that play in to why the Cherokee brand is so wildly popular with nurses, doctors and the entire medical community.

The first and most important reason that they are so popular is the high quality standards that Cherokee lives and dies by. I’ve spoken with many nurses that of told me that they have had Cherokee scrubs, some for as long as five years with minimal signs of wear and tear. When you spend your hard-earned money on scrubs and other medical accessories, you want to know that they are going to last for years to come and to look good for all those years.

The second reason that Cherokee scrubs and the Cherokee brand name is so popular today is there wide selection and huge diversity of medical scrubs and nursing uniforms. Cherokee offers stylish tops and bottoms from Baby Phat that are sure to make you the most stylish nurse at the office. They also offer brands like Dickies, Med-Man, Scrubs HQ, Sketchers, Studio, Team Scrubs, Tooniforms and Workwear. With all of these great brands you are sure to find the perfect scrub top or scrub bottom that fits your personal style.

The third reason that Cherokee stands above other scrubs, is that they offer the largest selection of sizes to fit any man or woman. They offer extra extra small (XXS), extra small (XS), small (s), medium (m), large (l), extra large (XL), 2XL (XXL), 3XL (XXL), 4XL (XXXXL) and 5XL (XXXXXL) in almost all of their popular scrub brands and prints.

Men and their Nursing Scrub Decisions http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/07/30/men-and-their-nursing-scrub-decisions/ http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/07/30/men-and-their-nursing-scrub-decisions/#comments Fri, 30 Jul 2010 02:07:12 +0000 Administrator http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/07/30/men-and-their-nursing-scrub-decisions/ Men Scrubs

Men’s nursing scrubs are becoming more and more popular day by day. There are numerous amounts of reputable and reliable companies that provide great quality men’s scrub tops that will suit their medical career needs. Today, manufacturers of men’s nursing scrubs have collaborated hundreds of designs for both adult and pediatric nurses. Most of these designs are tailored for men nurses, keeping the deigns attractive and masculine.

Anyone can walk into a hospital or doctors office and most likely they will see a man wearing some sort of medical uniform or nursing scrub. These scrubs can either be a solid color scrub or a print scrub. A solid color scrub is exactly like it sounds. These solid color scrubs come in all sorts of sizes and cuts. One of the most popular cut for a man is the v-neck cut. This will give men a wide range of motion around his neck and upper shoulder area. Another form of men’s scrubs would be the print style scrub. A print style scrub is exactly the opposite of a solid color scrub. Print style scrubs will have a design, logo, or picture on the scrubs. These are mainly seen in the pediatric type of practice where keeping the patients mind off of what is happening would be a concern. These print style scrubs also come in sizes and styles. Once again, the v-neck scrub would be the most popular for men as well.

It’s becoming a more common item now a days to see companies such as Dickies or Cherokee using men as their models for scrubs. Men are starting to vary their scrubs wardrobe into a more dynamic looking selection rather than just the solid colors. It not only allows men to wear better looking scrubs rather than the mundane solid colors, but it also adds a little more diversity in the working atmosphere.

What nursing scrubs style is best for your body type? http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/07/18/what-nursing-scrubs-style-is-best-for-your-body-type/ http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/07/18/what-nursing-scrubs-style-is-best-for-your-body-type/#comments Sun, 18 Jul 2010 20:45:23 +0000 Administrator http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/?p=23 Body-shapesThere are four basic body types. Knowing your type is imperative in creating the right look. Many people differentiate these shapes by using fruit as examples. I don’t really like to think of myself as a pear, even though I might have the shape of one. Therefore, I won’t be mentioning any type of fruit in this article!

Not sure about your shape? Take a good look in the mirror without your clothes on.

1. Are you busty/large chest with broad shoulders?

2. Do you have narrow shoulders and carry more weight in your hips and thighs?

3. Are you athletic, fairly slim, and narrow through the torso?

4. Do you have curves both in the bust and hips with a narrow waist?

These are four of the most common basic body shapes. Of course, no one fits exactly into these categories, but you should see some kind of resemblance to one of these types.

No matter what “shape” you are, please see the beauty in your body. Many people have adopted a critical voice that often compares their bodies to those of celebrities on TV, in film and in magazines. And – having worked in TV for years and having seen hundreds of actors in their underwear – here’s the dirty little secret I can tell you: They dress to showcase their greatest assets. They have professional designers find the right clothes to make them look and feel fabulous. That’s what I’m here for…think of me as your personal designer, here to help YOU look and feel fabulous. So let’s connect your body type to the best scrubs to buy and wear!

Body Type 1
If you are Body Type 1 (busty/large chest with broad shoulders), try to steer away from wearing tight tops. Not only will they be uncomfortable, but they won’t be flattering, either. And don’t go in the opposite direction and wear a baggy top to hide your bust. A V-neck, mock-wrap scrub top will be flattering for you. Stay away from prints on the top and lean toward darker colors. Keep your pants fitted, but not tight. Your goal is to enhance your look with the correct proportions.

Body Type 2
If you have narrow shoulders with more weight on your hips and thighs, you can easily wear a printed top. Try layering a printed hip-length jacket with a solid boatneck or scoop-neck top. Pair this with a solid pant.

Body Type 3
If you have an athletic, narrow and slim build, prints can be flattering on you. Don’t hesitate to layer. You can wear a short-sleeve jacket with a long-sleeve tee to “hip” up some of your separates. Any kind of ruching or other details on your tops would be great for you. A pair of flared pants will complement your look.

Body Type 4
If you’re #4 on the list (lots of curves on the top and bottom), try flared pants with scoop tees. V-neck wrap tops are good for you. Try a nipped-waist jacket with straight-leg pants. Small-print tops can be great for your body type.

Style Tips for Men
For you male nurses, be sure you feel comfortable in your scrubs. Don’t wear anything, top or bottom, that’s too tight. If you’re not at your ideal weight, don’t let the size number influence you. Buy scrubs in a size that fits well. No one is looking at the tag.

Nursing Scrubs Today http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/07/18/nursing-scrubs-today/ http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/2010/07/18/nursing-scrubs-today/#comments Sun, 18 Jul 2010 20:17:14 +0000 Administrator http://site.firstscrubs.com/blog/?p=11 yhst-39156634853645_2111_72679549Nursing scrubs have changed dramatically throughout the past 10, 20 or even 30 years. Remember walking into a hospital back in the day and seeing everyone wearing all white scrub tops and matching white scrub bottoms. What happened to that? Now everywhere you go you see nurses and doctors wearing a variety of different colors with beautiful designs and catchy pictures on them. Maybe they do this now so it takes the “pain” or “nervousness” out of going to see them.

Over the past few years, hospitals and doctor’s offices have become less stringent on what you can wear. Walk into a peditrician’s office, nurses are wearing scrubs with Sesame Street characters on them, or walk into a dentist’s office and you will see beautiful flower patterened scrubs. It’s nice to see that times have changed, as they should have. No longer do you have to sit in an office with mundane looking uniforms or scrubs.

Nowadays, you even see causal people walking around in scrub tops. I’m sure they have become both more comfortable to wear and more durable as well. Also, the market has expanded dramatically, marketing scrubs to the male arena as well. I’m actually surprised that it has taken this long for that to happen, considering all of the male doctors in the industry today. Who is to say that they can’t wear cool looking, comfortable scrubs too?
